Despite the strategic importance of both software development and the data produced by the resulting systems, software development remains costly and risky. 70% of software development efforts fail, with 17% failing so badly they risk the survival of the company. This type of system: • Is simpler to design via a shared visual language that naturally expresses how business SMEs think about the business requirements, and how UI/UX designers and software engineers think about the user interactions and state changes within the system • Is simpler to implement because this visual modeling language can be translated directly into working soft- ware, including via automated code-generation • Produces data that is easier to use, analyze, and integrate with other systems outside of this system’s own context
