About Evoking Belonging
Evoking Belonging is a social impact research and strategy consultancy specialising in social sculpture practice and cultural advocacy for social justice. Our Evoking Belonging practice creates equitable, regenerative dialogue spaces for social enquiry. We specialise in issues relating to migration, social cohesion, deepening democracy and participatory governance. The research practice works with artistic and imaginative methods to create a foundation for inclusive participation, which transcends race, culture, demographic, education and language barriers. Evoking Belonging is a Social Sculpture practice developed through PhD research conducted by Dianne Regisford at Oxford Brookes University (2012 -2019). The research focussed on African Diaspora communities living in the UK. The 'lived experience' research strand continues to be a core aspect of our business and community work. We are particularly interested in working with Black-led community based organisations to enable capacity building, qualitative research and experiential knowledge transfer for Black community leaders working in social justice. Evoking Belonging also offers a Racial Justice Education package for schools and community based organisations. This content is created for lower secondary schools and community educators, the education package includes History curriculum, CPD and PSCHE content for teachers. Additionally, we have created a social enterprise called: The EVOKE Community. The EVOKE community brings together African Diaspora culture ARTivists to co-create, commune and connect so that we can actively, visibly and profitably engage in regenerative practices, which affirm the value of culture in creating equitable, just and humane societies. Currently, EVOKE is a private global online virtual community, hosted by Dianne Regisford, Founder of Evoking Belonging.
