About Expectancy
Expectancy is the leading provider of a unique range of accredited courses for health professionals working with pregnant and childbearing women, including midwives, complementary therapists, doulas and antenatal teachers. We focus on using complementary therapies and natural remedies to normalise birth and reduce interventions such as Caesareans and inductions of labour. Our fundamental philosophy is based on safety, professional accountability and evidence-based practice and we are actively campaigning for the subject of "complementary therapies" to be included in midwifery training in the UK. We offer a unique Preparation for Midwifery Studies programme for aspiring midwives, to increase their chances of obtaining a place to study midwifery. Our Educational Director, Denise Tiran, a midwifery lecturer and renowned author, is an internationally- acknowledged authority on maternity complementary medicine. We offer scheduled courses in London and can provide on-site courses for maternity units wishing to implement therapies such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, reflexology, and hypnosis into midwifery practice, or to incorporate natural therapies for post-dates pregnancy, nausea and vomiting in pregnancy and breech presentation. We are available to teach student midwives in-house in their own universities. We also teach overseas for maternity services, universities and complementary therapy training organisations.
