About explorabilia

explorabilia is the brainchild of Evan Panagopoulos : he is an urban storyteller, an avid fan of brutalist and mid-century architecture, a knowledgeable WW2 and Victorian era enthusiast, and likes engaging with abandoned spaces and obscure history. He has a knack for rediscovering forgotten and unseen spaces hiding in plain sight, and expresses what he’s passionate about through writing, photography and interviewing people with a fascinating story to share. He is often silently preoccupied with the ongoing trivialization of the human condition, and the growing evidence of a deteriorating society : The failure of capitalism, the corruptive influence of power, the superficial humanity and unbearable dystopia surrounding us. He records this descent towards a new Dark Age in its various manifestations, and enjoying the ride, while maintaining hope for the emergence of a brave new world. Evan is currently busy with the creation of more alternative London walks, showcasing the obscure and less known sights and stories of the capital. He is also working towards the development of longer international tours, featuring weird and wonderful locales, dark stories, abandoned sites, and fringe cities, where he weaves fascinating, well researched social and historic narratives related through authentically local experiences.
