About Explore the North

Welcome to our slice of paradise! We, Johan and Sara, founded Explore the North in 2005 after years of dreaming. When setting out on this journey, we looked no further than Johan’s childhood home: Kangos. Towering pine forests, lakes, and rivers make the area around Kangos wild and beautiful. We want to show you what makes our part of Lapland so special and magical. To us, you come as a guest and you leave as a friend. We invite you to visit us and get to know more about Lapland. Join our friendly knowledgeable staff in small tour groups to experience all Sweden’s nature has to offer. We want every guest to have a unique trip of a lifetime. Beyond our amazing staff and the breathtaking wilderness, the heart of the company has always been our huskies. We have over 200 dogs working at Explore the North. Currently we have three different lodges to host you: Pinetree Lodge in Särkimukka, Aurora Mountain Lodge in Lannavaara and Arctic River Lodge in Tärendö. All three lodges offer a variety of activities all year round for solo and group vacations. Welcome to Lapland!
