At the moment, most of the outstanding museum furniture is displayed out of reach behind a security cordon, or locked away in their storage facility. Visitors can only hope to discover their secrets in one of those few specialized books, and yet again superficially. Only specialists and the privileged few can access and contemplate closely the real beauty of these masterpieces, and grasp their technical complexity. My wish: Bring forward all these masterpieces and have them accessible for everyone, "in front of the cordon". This is why I created ExploVision, a company specialized in the numerical preservation and showcasing of cultural heritage using 3D/VR interactive presentation and real-time technologies. With more than 20 years of passionate experience in cabinet making and marquetry, Philippe has a unique know-how and expertise in furniture construction to faithfully reproduce your masterpieces. "Through this research work, I aim to demonstrate the importance of documenting, monitoring, studying and disseminating the world's cultural heritage in the history of furniture." Through rigorous digital reconstruction work, Philippe aims to break down the barriers between traditional and digital arts and apply the outcomes of his research to the preservation and sharing of cultural heritage. These recordings have many uses. They can be used by curators to monitor condition, by researchers for study, or to allow anyone who cannot travel to see the original object to view it in high-resolution through the internet. They can be used to explore different options for restoring objects in a purely virtual setting, without harming the original.
