Welcome to The Exponential Scout, I’m Erwin A. Godoy. This site is where I share insights and strategies for capitalizing on exponential change. I specialize in building product organizations and driving business model strategies that unlock value from the exponential change. “The rate of change today is the slowest it will ever be in our lifetime.” I first heard this striking unattributed quote at a Lean Startup conference in 2015, and each passing year proves its truth more vividly. What fueled success in the 2000s and 2010s will no longer suffice for the 2020s and beyond. Innovation is now both combinatorial and ubiquitous, driving exponential change and redefining the rules of business. New models and paradigms emerge at breakneck speed, propelled by what Joseph Schumpeter famously called the “Gales of Creative Destruction.” These winds aren’t slowing—they’re intensifying. To thrive, as individuals and as organizations (commercial and government) we must challenge our core assumptions, constantly recalibrating our mental and business models to keep pace with the relentless waves of change. Success demands agility—the ability to pivot and adapt with the precision of a kayaker navigating turbulent rapids. In this era, learning and adjusting will be essential to compete, but to truly win, we must master the ability to develop and act on foresight.
