About Extra Special Parents
Welcome To Extra Special Parents! Our experienced, knowledgeable, and forward thinking team is ready to assist you in finding a loving and supportive home for a child with or without special needs. We take extra special care to make sure that a child is placed in the most appropriate home to meet his/her particular needs. All families certified by Extra Special Parents have completed psychological evaluations, comprehensive home studies, and pre-service training on topics such as strength based parenting, Virginia’s foster care system, trauma informed care, behavior management, among other relevant topics. Our Treatment Foster Care Parents are also provided with monthly training and support groups that cover various parenting and foster care topics. Through its Community-Based Services division, ESP offers innovative and evidence-based family support programs, which includes therapeutic mentoring, intact family casework, parent coaching, resource family casework, supervised visitation, independent living services, and Intensive Care Coordination (ICC). ICC provides community based services through a family-driven, team-based, collaborative process to help families and youth who are at risk of being placed in or are currently in an out of home placement.
