About Eyre Hub

Eyre Hub will be Australia’s most centrally located, integrated logistics and services hub for nation-critical freight, transport, agricultural and export industries. This initiative will deliver an IMPORTANT light industrial precinct, with shared services and infrastructure for commercial and government, tenants and owners. Eyre Hub is a COMMUNITY-DRIVEN project that fits lockstep with the Federal and State Governments' priorities to build regional infrastructure that drives strong economic growth, overdue efficiency and 'value add' to essential industry supply chains. Eyre Hub will directly benefit the road freight, transport and logistics industries by: o Saving lives, reducing serious injuries and road incidents by providing a purpose-built Fatigue Management Centre, and other services supporting 100,000 heavy vehicle drivers per annum. o Optimising Road Freight routes across Australia, with heavy vehicle and driver changeover, turnaround and backloading facilities at the halfway point of the national east-west corridor that connects Perth and the Eastern States. o Streamlining General Freight distribution to the whole of the Eyre Peninsula using a centralised Kimba distribution hub, eradicating the current inefficient and time-consuming routing. o Future proofing by design allowing for 24-hour automated services to more than 100,000 drivers per annum with a public weighbridge, electric truck battery charging, and potential for hydrogen services. Eyre Hub will directly benefit the District of Kimba and Eyre Peninsula by: o Providing a designated rest area for truck drivers who are currently stopping in Kimba on the roadside illegally. o Delivering facilities including clean toilets, secure trailer drop off, and other fatigue management facilities that will help keep Kimba and the roadsides cleaner, tidier, and more appealing to tourists and locals.
