Fabco Shoes was founded in 1953 by Abe Weinman and Fred Lustbader, both veterans of the discount footwear industry. They were professional colleagues manufacturing, selling, and retailing shoes. Both Abe and Fred shared a vision to establish a self-service shoe store with fashionable family footwear at affordable prices. Their first store opened in Brooklyn and soon after they expanded to New York’s five boroughs, Long Island, and New Jersey. Fabco maintains this vision and is now operated by the founders’ children.
