About Fair Tide
Based in Kittery, Maine, the mission of Fair Tide is to reduce homelessness by providing housing and supportive services to individuals and families in the Seacoast. We envision a time when everyone has access to safe, stable and affordable housing. We believe this is a prerequisite to a healthy, quality life for individuals and creates strong and vibrant communities. We began in 1998 and provide permanent, affordable housing and supportive services to people who have formerly experienced homelessness or are at risk of experiencing homelessness. Our Housing and Case Management Program provides affordable housing through units we develop and own, partnerships with landlords in the private market to accept housing vouchers, case management support, information and referral services, and administer general assistance. Throughout our program’s history, we have helped over 170 individuals secure housing and have prevented over 570 individuals from falling into homelessness. We also operate a thrift store to provide low-cost clothing and housewares to our community. Proceeds from the thrift store go back into our Housing and Case Management Program. Nearly $3 million has been raised from our thrift store to support our mission since the store's beginning in 2003.
