The firm began life as Warsop, which produced rock drills for the quarrying industry. Over the years the product line was expanded and the company went through many takeovers, being bought by Fairport Engineering in 1983. Two years later, Fairport Engineering bought Metrix Engineering in Sheffield and the two companies, along with Flexible Drive and Tool, merged in 1994. The firm was reborn as Fairport Construction Equipment in 2000. It is renowned for its commitment to product development as well as its high standards of customer service.
