About Family First CA
Family First is a regional Northern California company with strong community ties created by partners with over twenty years experience helping children and families with developmental disabilities. Together, we have developed a new and innovative approach to in-home intervention. We chose the name Family First because it not only speaks to our core philosophy, it is also the basis for our model of intervention; a model that empowers parents and families to be the first and most important teachers in their child's life. Emphasizing collaboration between the caregiver, therapist and child, family facilitated therapy has emerged as an alternative to the traditional approach that has been widely implemented over the past three decades. Our experience with this therapeutic model has been extremely positive, and recent research bears this out. Research and anecdotes aside, we feel the logic and simplicity of a program that puts a child's development back in the hands of her family speaks for itself.
