About Family Life Missions
In its almost 30 year history, Family Life Missions (FLM), has served numerous children and countless families in need in Catacamas, Honduras. FLM was founded in 1992 to provide a home and family for Honduran children whose biological families were not able to love and care for them. Family Life Missions established Por Los Niños (PLN), its first family-centered children's home for orphans in 1992. In 1997, PLN expanded to a full campus, known as Por Los Niños Village, with four residential homes overseen by loving house parents, a nationally-recognized bilingual elementary school that serves both PLN residents and children of the community, and a Comprehensive Care Center that provides trauma-informed therapy for children who have been through difficult situations. Beyond simply providing food and lodging, FLM has always strived to meet each child’s spiritual, emotional and intellectual needs. Since its founding, FLM has broadened its spectrum of child care to include family preservation — supporting and empowering families with the tools and techniques they need to lead full, healthy Christian lives — and a foster care and adoption program, having been chosen by the Honduran government to be one of the first organizations to pilot such an initiative. These programs center around the mission of FLM: to partner with God to place the lonely in families, maintaining the vision that hope, health and stability define the community, with the church leading the way.
