About Family Medicine, Keck School of Medicine of USC
Welcome to the Department of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. As a specialty, family medicine provides continuous care across a patient’s entire lifespan, forming the foundation of all clinical care. The department prepares future generations of primary care leaders, while our faculty seek to discover new knowledge that will not only improve the health of individuals and communities, but also reduce disparities in health care access and services. Advancing the quality of patient care remains at the heart of what we do. The exceptional team at the Department of Family Medicine combines high-tech, high-touch holistic primary care for patients of all ages — from newborns to seniors. As part of this mission, the department is devoted to providing and caring for older adults. We strive to shift the emphasis in clinical care from “illness” to “wellness.” The mission of the Department of Family Medicine is to improve the health of individuals and families in partnership with the communities we serve by translating advances in medicine to excellent, accessible and holistic care through education, scholarship and service.
