Family Service of Santa Monica a community based mental health agency, and, a division of Vista Del Mar, serves a diverse range of children, youth, adults, couples and families. The agency provides comprehensive, family-centered and child-centered health services, which encourage children, adolescents and their families to lead self-reliant, stable, and productive lives. We offer Evidence Based Programs as well as psycho-dynamic and relationship based services, including: Play Therapy uses play as the primary modality to support children with internal struggles or emotional problems that are difficult to resolve through other forms of intervention or talk therapy. Family Therapy helps parents work together with their children to strengthen relationships through better communication. It helps them understand and deal with behavior issues, social and emotional problems, or other mental health issues that interfere with their ability to parent successfully. Parenting Work utilizes a parent-therapist team approach to support the parent in developing a more reflective style in an effort to gain a better understanding of their child’s/teen’s behavior and to facilitate better communication and cooperation between parents and children.
