About Farr Vintners

Farr Vintners Ltd was founded in 1978 and through a policy of low margins, quick turnover and offering honest, impartial and informed advice grew steadily to become Britain's largest wholesale fine wine merchant - a position we have now held for over a decade. Our main activity is the purchase and sale of top Bordeaux wines, of which we are one of the country's largest stockholders and leading en primeur merchants. We also offer an in depth range of wines from other French regions including Burgundy, the Rhône and Loire valleys, Champagne and Alsace. The greatest wines from around the world also feature on our list with the pick of the bunch from Italy, Spain, California, Australia and New Zealand as well as vintage Ports and Madeiras. In todays market where the internet promises many unrealistic deals, and pricing has become transparent we believe it is even more important to buy from a company that can deliver what it promises. Almost all the wines on offer on this site belong to us and are either in stock at Octavian or awaiting collection from our suppliers. We invest a huge effort to ensure that the wines we buy meet our strict criteria and have pioneered the use of photography in checking all stock received into the warehouse. Once accepted, wines are stored in ideal conditions in the foremost fine wine storage facility in the country. See our storage page for details.
