About FAST (Fashion and Student Trends) at UCLA
FAST (Fashion and Student Trends) is the University of California, Los Angeles’s premier fashion organization. At FAST, everyone has the opportunity to explore their creativity, culture, and personal style. Founded in 2001 and entirely student run, FAST offers UCLA undergraduates, graduates, and extension students a place to learn new skills pertaining to all aspects of the fashion industry. FAST provides first hand experience in garment design, modeling, event planning, public relations, marketing, finance, writing, editorial, graphic design, creative directing, production, operations, and styling. FAST is renowned for its annual runway, an industry-level spring event held in Pauley Pavilion, an arena regarded by Wescom as one of the finest all-around collegiate facilities in the nation. This event hosts over 600 guests and professionals and features the past year’s work, talent, and passion of more than 20 student designers and 200+ members. FAST’s journalism department maintains our website, posting weekly blog articles on a variety of fashion-related topics such as global differences in beauty standards, television’s impact on the runway, and the latest seasonal trends. In collaboration with modeling and styling, these articles feature exclusive editorial photography that incorporate members’ diverse creative visions. Throughout the year, FAST hosts fashion-related workshops, personal styling experiences, and career building events with alumni and industry professionals as guest panels. In 2022, the Alumni Association Network was founded to connect alumni with present members.
