About FASTSEWN - Mikkelsen Innovation
Mikkelsen Innovation aims to automate one of the largest industries – The Textile Industry. Globally it employs 300 million people with 45 million sewing mostly with manually sewing machines – a 100 year old technology. This industry is in dire need of easy to implement automation solutions, having not yet benefited from the full automation trends seen in most other industries. Our international team of engineers and experts, has invented a simple & unique solution based on our Moving Cavity Technology (MCT™) which is integrated with proven CNC machine technology. The integration creates the patented FASTSEWN™ system – a solution that processes textiles directly from one or more rolls, sews any 2D pattern (including keder sewing for SEG graphics), and then laser-cuts the shapes into finished products. Sizes up to 3.3m wide. This innovation radically reduces the manual labor required to allow the textile industry to begin to move production back to the West, closer to the customers. Using it to enable shorter-run, local textile production helps reduce overproduction and transport times, thereby lowering costs. Our initial focus is on technical textiles for automotive, medical, filtration, ventilation, military, and graphics applications, with garment production automation to follow later.
