All 25 pieces in the stylish Herstory collection are handcrafted from quality heartwood cleared for HS2. Fay lovingly hand-sands each piece and rubs it with transparent oil for a gorgeous finish. Sustainability. Fay sources all her wood from England, with around 80% of it from London. The Herstory collection is made from trees removed to make way for HS2, the high-speed rail line. Turning this salvaged wood into furniture reduces demand for ‘new wood’ from tree farms or logging projects in tropical forests – and the carbon cost of transporting it across the planet. Salvaged wood is better for the environment than new wood and higher quality than reclaimed wood. Mission: Natural beauty. Each piece is handcrafted in London with integrity and care. “I’m a real hands-on person, which is why being a designer and maker means so much to me. I have an intimate relationship with each piece of wood. I select it based on provenance and sustainability, then treat it with care and respect.
