FCM is a non-profit association committed to the realisation of a more integrated market in the Mediterranean region. The Federation’s has 19 professional institutes of accountants as members (17 full members and 2 affiliate members), from 16 countries, representing more than 300.000 professionals. FCM is the only representative organisation for the accountancy profession in the Mediterranean is an Acknowledged Accountancy Grouping of IFAC. As part of its objective to contribute to economic developments in the Mediterranean, FCM uses its regional expertise and existing rapport with the major institutions to promote the need for transparent, reliable and comparable financial information and for capacity building initiatives in the Mediterranean. Through its activities, FCM strives to ensure that regional professional interests and themes are considered on an international level by public authorities and by international standard setters IFAC and IASB. The Federation provides technical assistance and support to members in their endeavours to achieve and/or improve professional and quality assurance standards within their respective countries and in their endeavours to achieve and/or maintain IFAC membership requirements and standards. FCM promotes cooperation among the regional accountancy bodies on issues of common interest, in both the private and public sectors, to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and enable them to act in concert in matters affecting the profession.
