About Feilden Fowles
Feilden Fowles is an award-winning architecture practice specialising in the design and delivery of landscape-led and culturally resonant projects. Since its founding in 2009, Feilden Fowles has built a portfolio of buildings and environments that preserve heritage, enrich biodiversity, and provide lasting social value. The practice typically combines a focus on utility with a sensitivity to context and a delight in materials, finding moments of poetry in the pragmatic interplay of space, light and form. Based in a self-built studio on an inner-city farm in Waterloo, London, the practice’s committed and creative team are developing a model for low-tech, sustainable and materially intelligent architecture. Notable current projects include Black Robin Farm, a new arts, education and cultural centre in the South Downs, new facilities and the significant enhancement and refurbishment of heritage building at Mansfield College, University of Oxford; a new central hall at the National Railway Museum in York; and the Nature + Love project at the Horniman Museum and Gardens. Built works to date span across culture, education, heritage, commercial and residential sectors. Examples include the Urban Nature Project at the Natural History Museum, the new dining hall at Homerton College, University of Cambridge; 2019 Stirling Prize finalist The Weston visitor centre and gallery at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield; The Fratry, Carlisle Cathedral, Cumbria and Charlie Bigham’s Food Production Campus, Somerset. The practice has been recognised with a number of awards, most recently: RIBA National Awards, Civic Trust Awards and Wood Awards, 2022 - 2025 (Homerton College, Dining Hall); 2019 Stirling Prize finalist (The Weston, Yorkshire Sculpture Park); Architect of the Year and Public Architect of the Year in BD’s AYA Awards 2021; Civic Trust Award 2021 (The Weston, Yorkshire Sculpture Park); and AJ 40 under 40 practice in 2020.
