About Fenix Finland Ry

Fenix Finland Association is a non-profit mental health organization that offers free psychological support and to individuals who have immigrated to Finland, in their own native language, during crises and difficult life situations. Fenix Finland Yhdistys on voittoa tavoittelematon mielenterveysjärjestö, joka tarjoaa ilmaista psykologista tukea Suomeen muuttaneille henkilöille heidän omalla äidinkielellään kriisien ja vaikeiden elämäntilanteiden aikana. We operate through volunteer work and aim to promote mental health, well-being, and integration. During last year more than 50,000 Ukrainian refugees, a significant number of whom intend to stay in Finland due to the destruction of their hometowns, have arrived in Finland. Those who have fled the war have a great need for up-to-date assistance in supporting their mental health in their native language. Without this help, their functional capacity may decline, leading to disability and increased mental health costs for the Finnish government. During 2022-2023, Fenix Finland Association has provided psychological support to over 1000 Ukrainian forced migrants, harnessing the resources of Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking mental health and social work professionals living in Finland. We offer diverse services aimed at helping immigrants find resources and coping mechanisms in difficult life situations. Our support includes counseling, guidance, peer support, group activities, and various events that promote the adaptation and well-being of immigrants in a new country and changed circumstances. We have succeeded in helping many immigrants find a new direction in their lives and build stronger mental health. So far, the continuity of our operations relies solely on donations, as our association has not yet received government grants or other funding.
