FetalEase is a privately held Israeli start-up company dedicated to commercializing the Yaari Extractor™, the only device-based solution for the treatment of shoulder dystocia birth, an emergency birth complication. Shoulder dystocia occurs when the baby’s head has been born but one of the shoulders becomes stuck behind the mother’s pubic bone, delaying the birth of the baby’s body. Shoulder dystocia affects more than 1.5M mothers and babies annually and can result in maternal injury, neonatal injury, permanent disability and death. The Yaari Extractor is a simple mechanical solution that aids the physician in resolving shoulder dystocia by removing the anterior fetal shoulder from behind the maternal pubic bone and moving it to the oblique diameter where it can be delivered safely. This is achieved without applying traction to the fetal head or neck. The Yaari Extractor is an investigational device and is limited by United States law to investigational use.
