About FIAT-IFTA – The World Organization of Funeral Operatives

FIAT- IFTA is a non-profit Federation of national and international associations, companies and individuals representing funeral, thanatopraxy, crematory and/or cemetery services, funeral home businesses, funeral service companies, funeral directors and embalmers. FIAT- IFTA provides advocacy, education, information, products, programs and services to help Members to enhance the quality of service to bereaved families in all countries. The Federation is orientated on a non-discriminating, scientific and social basis. Then there was an inaugural meeting in Monaco on April 24, 1970, where Mr Andre Chatillon was appointed as President, Mr R. Levin as 1st Vice President, Mr J. Com as 2nd Vice President, Mr J. Mallet as head of the secretariat, and Mr E. Obert as supervisor. The initial purpose of the founding was to begin research into the preservation of bodies from the point of view of death and life studies and embalming. In 1988 it had a new start, evolving into a prestigious global networking platform for funeral directors, funeral service providers, repatriation companies and high quality funeral suppliers. Today FIAT-IFTA is the only such organization in the world, the only NGO accredited with the United Nations ECOSOC and UNESCO representing the funeral branch in social and economic issues and in the field of funeral heritage. FIAT-IFTA’s vision of the funeral industry’s future is that of its members, their needs and aspirations for providing excellence in service. Apply for FIAT-IFTA Membership and expand your network to enhance global exposure of your services.
