About Fife Employment Access Trust

Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) was set up in 1994 by a small group of people concerned about the lack of employment opportunities for people in Fife who had experience of mental health problems. Some of this group had personal experience of mental ill health - and were all too aware about the problems of finding a job and the stigma that prevailed. Today, we have over 26 years of experience of directly supporting people with mental health problems to find and sustain work. Our efforts led to winning the 2019 Centre for Social Justice Award in the Work Category and our "Employ your Mind" programme has been replicated in Melbourne with our support, training and mentoring. We also hold a lease for Silverburn Park in Leven and moving ahead with plans to regenerate the B-listed former flax mill to become a visitor centre and community hub. In the lead-up to this, we have developed a range of volunteering, training and employment opportunities for our client group and others from the community FEAT's vision is to enable and support individuals to reach their full positive mental wellbeing in a culture where there is no stigma. Employing an inclusive, non-judgemental approach to prepare, support and empower people to flourish by managing their mental health for life - whatever life does, by: Working with others to eliminate the stigma on mental health in the workplace and communities Providing service users with strategies and tools to improve their resilience and employability Creating safe, nurturing, supportive and compassionate environments to encourage personal growth Developing strategic partnerships with complementary and diverse organisations that share our vision Supporting the welfare and continuous professional development of staff and volunteers so they may continue to provide exceptional services
