About Film Oxford

Film Oxford is a creative arts charity supporting artists and filmmakers from a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. We deliver creative projects in local communities, aiming to serve groups who are economically or socially disadvantaged or under-represented in the arts. Recent projects have included working with young people from the Rose Hill and Blackbird Leys estates and older people from the African Caribbean and LGBTQ+ communities in Oxford, as well as supporting a dedicated group of artists with learning disabilities called the Shadowlight Artists in running art workshops and successful exhibitions. We run a programme of in-person and online training courses in film and other creative areas, in support of our mission to inspire creativity in the local community and make it available to as many people as possible. We also support exhibition & screening opportunities, and deliver project work with young people and community groups. We also do some commercial production and training work, with a preference for socially responsible causes and clients, and have recently worked with local museums and charities to produce videos for display or social media purposes. We are a non-profit company and registered charity (1041014) which has run under several different names, and at other premises, since 1975. For those interested in our history, we now have an extensive ‘online’ archive going back to the 1970s. By working with us you are supporting communities. All proceeds from our production services and bespoke training directly support our charitable work in the community. We are committed to supporting disabled people, young people, and those who are otherwise socially isolated through a programme of creative activities, skills development, and new opportunities.
