This latest interactive web site is designed to enable ship owners, technical managers and others to carry out an online search to find a drydock for their ships when they need to by inputting a few parameters and selecting a region on either the world map or a dropdown menu. The search results produce a list of docks with check boxes allowing some or all to be selected and also providing links to the operator's web site. Email enquries together with attachments can be sent to the operators (those who have subscibed) directly from the site and all further communication is carried out directly between owners and the shipyard / dock operator. We believe this to be a time saving mechanism for harassed managers and owners, especially in cases of emergency docking requirements. However, it is suitable for finding dry docks even for planned dockings especially if the ships are having to dry dock in areas where familiarity with available facilities is perhaps limited. Future planned developments include the addition of a distance table to enable estimation of time required to proceed to the respective docks as well as inclusion of port agents and tug / salvage companies.
