About Finger Lakes Clinical Research
Under the direction of Dr. Sarah Atkinson, FLCR conducts clinical studies specializing in central nervous system (CNS) trials. These clinical trials encompass a broad range of illnesses including anxiety disorders, ADHD, major depression, bipolar (manic/depressive) illness and schizophrenia. In addition, we have conducted peripheral neuropathy (pain) studies and cancer pain trials. Dr. Atkinson is a Board Certified psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience in the field, and has co-authored several standard textbooks and journal articles. Studies are done under grants from pharmaceutical companies and supervised by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Our patients are all volunteers and range in age from six to seniors. No health insurance or payments of any kind are required. Participants typically receive a stipend for their time and travel. The modern and effective drugs we all need and rely upon at various times in our lives have all been made possible through such clinical trials and the participation of people like you. In addition to our commitment to the best possible treatment and care for our patients, we value the critical role they play in the advancement of science. Our participants are our research partners working to find better treatments to help them, and many others, live better and healthier lives.
