About Finlay Studio
Interior and Architectural Design. Finlay Cowan is a conceptual designer with over 35 years experience in multiple industries including Interior Design, Music, Film, Publishing, Advertising, Marketing, Digital, Early Years Education, Retail Design and Costume Design. He also develops and executes design and brand strategy. He has worked in roles from concept artist and illustrator through to Interior Designer and Brand Director and is known for many globally recognised images. In 2015 he transitioned into interior design following his lifelong passion for architecture. Noticing that most public and private spaces are divided into ‘grown up’ spaces and ‘childrens spaces’ he has developed a design ethos focused on creating spaces that are truly family oriented and he has developed approaches that enable families to interact, play , relax and learn together. Finlay worked with legendary designer Storm Thorgerson at Stormstudios from 1993 until Storms passing in 2013. Finlay conceived and co-designed the biggest ever selling image for Pink Floyd (titled ‘Back Catalogue’ or ‘Backs’) which has become a world famous icon. Finlay co-wrote and designed the stage projection films and animations for Pink Floyd’s record breaking 1994 Division Bell World Tour. He went on to design numerous album sleeves, marketing, merchandise and advertising material for the group and was credited in the best selling Pink Floyd exhibition at Londons venerated Victoria & Albert Museum in 2017 in which he was officially recognised as one of the groups elite list of ‘collaborators’. Finlay also worked with Storm and his team on creative design briefs for Audioslave, Muse, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Cranberries, Jane’s Addiction, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin,Master Musicians of Jajouka, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Biffy Clyro, Talvin Singh,The Mars Volta, and others. https://www.krop.com/finlaycowan/
