About Firefly Sarcoma

“Firefly Sarcoma” is a well-thought name that has a deep meaning that resonated with me and those for whom this organisation is built for. Breast cancer can be a very dark period of a woman’s life, although a silent disease, the treatment can be twice as painful. Our organisation aims to bring light to the issue hence the “firefly”, discussing with underprivileged children and woman about the important of education and awareness towards breast cancer in order to get one step closer to hopefully preventing this disease. We go around slums and villages around India where we spend time with young children telling them the importance of education and higher education for both boys and girls. With Breast cancer being a taboo topic in the villages, we hope to provide new knowledge and support for people to accept this disease. As we plan an bus diagnosis tour around villages in India in October which is breast cancer month, we pray we can help women who are bound by their traditional thinking and help the 1 in 28 women in india get treatment early on. Whilst we progress through this journey, we target young children in villages to be aware of this type of cancer as well as separate out fear from cancer from their minds by providing them with a pathway to do so. All in all, the highlight of this NGO are it’s activities and the meddling of students from all kinds of backgrounds. Whether it’s art, dance or quiz, children from age 4-18 come together to bring a creative twist into the absorption of this knowledge. We are in the process of fundraising money to sponsor treatment of women who are economically deprived as well as introduce dance therapy to existing patients in order to ease their journey through the treatment. We aspire to save lives tans find a way to honour the lives lost by this emerging disease.
