About First Aid of the Soul
Mission: We offer accessible mental health & psychosocial support services to Ukrainians affected by the war, through trauma-informed, holistic, & creative approaches. Vision: Our vision is to restore dignity, belonging, & well-being to the soul of Ukraine. Who we are: We are a collective of dedicated professionally trained mental health clinicians from North America & across Europe. What we do: We offer a wide array of support services spanning from support groups, supervision, mentorship, training, workshops, and self-help materials. Story: First Aid of The Soul (FAS), a 501c(3) nonprofit, launched in March 2022, was formed in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion against Ukraine. A global collective of over 500 professionally trained mental health experts was mobilized to offer accessible mental health and psychosocial support services to Ukrainians, through trauma-informed, holistic, and creative approaches. FAS’s vision is to restore a sense of dignity, belonging, and well-being to the soul of Ukraine. FAS does this work by offering a wide array of support services spanning from support groups, supervision, mentorship, training, workshops, and self-help materials. FAS is unique in that the emphasis of support offered is through creative modalities by clinicians in the field of expressive arts therapy and somatic approaches. The collective of volunteers integrates art, music, movement, and mindfulness, into each of these settings, which is at the core of their work, with the goals being to hold the space, understand trauma, validate, normalize, offer a sense of belonging, connection, empowerment, and ultimately build resiliency as well as hope. Our team is equipped in offering services that are trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. Today FAS has impacted the lives of thousands of Ukrainians, enhancing their understanding of mental health and the importance of compassionate care for self and others.
