About First General Credit Union
First General Credit Union offers membership to anyone who works, worships, attends school or lives in Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, Newaygo, or Kent counties. Established in 1953 for the purpose of serving General Telephone employees and their families, we expanded our field of membership in 2006. Today FGCU has grown to a full-service financial institution owned by over 10,000 members. With two branches to serve our growing membership and fee free ATM locations throughout Michigan and across the country, First General Credit Union offers vehicle loans, savings products, credit cards, mortgages and a full range of financial services. Our field of membership no longer consists primarily of employees of General Telephone and their families but all who live or work within a wide five county area of western Michigan.
