About First Nations Financial Management Board
The π ππ provides First Nations with the tools required to govern their communities and manage finances. It supports First Nations in development of sound finance and administrative governance practices. The π ππ is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. ππ’π¬ππ¨π«π²: In the Spring of 2005, the Government of Canada enacted the πΉπππ π‘ πππ‘ππππ πΉππ πππ ππππππππππ‘ π΄ππ‘ (ππ΄π¨) which gave First Nations the option to participate under the πππΌ. To enable First Nations to participate, the πππΌ established three Indigenous Institutions: 1. First Nations Finance Authority (π ππ π) 2. First Nations Tax Commission (π πππ) 3. First Nations Financial Management Board (π ππ) The purpose of these institutions was to create a mechanism to provide support and tools to First Nations to strengthen their communities and build foundations for economic development.
