First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn is a 1,000 member, 500 household Reformed evangelical church with a vibrant congregation and a good mix of those established in their faith and new to the faith. The congregation has a fantastically diverse representation of ages, with the average age of new members in the mid-30s. Approximately 50% of our congregation lives in Glen Ellyn, 25% in Wheaton, and 25% in other surrounding communities. The staff consists of three pastors, a Director of Worship, Director of Youth Ministries, Director of Children’s Ministries, a Director of Adult Discipleship, a Director of Weekday Pre-School, a Church Business Administrator, and an administrative staff, as well as various departmental Associate Directors and Interns. The true strength of First Pres is in its lay leadership - congregational engagement is deep and strong - many key ministry areas are led entirely by lay leaders. First Pres is a very mission-minded congregation and supports both physically and financially a myriad of organizations and missionaries in the Chicago area and around the world who are engaged in works of justice, peace-making, faith-building and acts of compassion. With two distinct styles of worship each weekend, people are drawn to this friendly church family for its openhearted community, commitment to children’s and youth ministries, meaningful worship experiences, and helpful preaching and teaching. The congregation of First Pres takes seriously Christ’s mandate to make disciples of all, especially children, by baptizing them and teaching them. This commits us to passing on the Faith of the church to a new generation and new believers by the serious study of scripture, establishing a growing relationship with Christ the Savior, entering into fellowship with other believers, and making ourselves useful to the world in the name of Christ.
