My name is Cheree Clark and I am the founder of First Step Supportive Housing. I am a recovering addict of several decades of drug abuse. Looking back there are things in my recovery process that I believe led me to want to create this type of environment .During my addiction I entered programs that would have been more helpful to me in my recovery if they focused on co-occuring mental health issues, coping skills for relapse, support systems and employment services. Right now there are thousands of people that are recovering from addiction that have no where safe to go. Yes, social services may be helping them ,but the individual has no guidance and support with recovery and housing services. They don't know how to fill out a job application. They don't make enough money to pay for that inflated rent that we are seeing these days. First Step Supportive Housing will be more than just a roof over there head, it will be there home. A place where they take there power back, special place in there memories for years to come. First Step Supportive Housing has been a dream of mine for many years, and I know it will be successful because my heart and soul fills every part of it.
