About Fitch Lumber & Hardware
Beginning in 1907 in Mebane, N.C., Fitch Lumber Co. moved into Carrboro when rapid development occurred surrounding The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Originally a planer mill and coal depot, we transformed into a full-service retailer and building supply yard. Currently we provide framing and finish lumber, plywood, masonry products, millwork, windows and doors, roofing, insulation, specialty products and all sorts of miscellaneous hardware. Fitch Lumber & Hardware has always provided excellent customer service that’s truly second to none and has established great relationships with our vendors. We have continued to sell top quality products to contractors, remodelers and homeowners for more than a century and have been very active in supporting the local community, schools, churches and many other various organizations. We pride ourselves in a strong family-valued work environment and have several current employees whose previous family members have worked here as well. We enjoy creating lasting relationships with our loyal customers, architects, designers and builders. We are pleased to be one of the oldest active businesses in Orange County and hope to thrive for generations to come.
