About Flight Test Museum
This page is managed by volunteers of the Flight Test Historical Foundation, a nonprofit raising funds to expand the Flight Test Museum located in Edwards, Calif. The Flight Test Museum is an expansion of the USAF Flight Test Museum located at Edwards AFB. The new expansion will be accessible to the public and located outside the base in the heart of Aerospace Valley. Once completed, the entire museum's footprint will be the most comprehensive collection in the world of flight test achievements made by NASA, the Department of Defense, and civilian aerospace. The completed Flight Test Museum will be an Air Force field museum operating within the guidelines of the USAF Heritage Program. Its mission will be to collect, interpret, preserve, and display the material history of Edwards AFB, NASA, civilian flight testing, its antecedents, and the history of flight testing in the Aerospace Valley. There are currently more than 87 spectacular aircraft, with 41 on display: 36 at Edwards AFB and five at Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale, Calif., that need to be properly housed. In addition, rare artifacts that need a permanent home include historic aircraft propulsion systems, wind tunnel models, life support equipment, technical drawings, test reports, personal memorabilia, and photographs. We welcome your support to help expand the museum. Thank you.
