About Florida Gulf Coast Rugby Foundation / Sarasota Rugby Club

Strive for excellence on the pitch through our coaching, volunteering, close involvement with schools, colleges, University, the local community and surrounding area. Sarasota Rugby Club is a community-based sports team drawing from the greater Sarasota-Bradenton area. The club has experienced remarkable growth and success both on and off the field. After merging with the Sarasota International Cricket Club in the Fall of 2014, the club finally had a permanent practice and playing facility. This attracted new members and during the 2014/2015 season Surge finished an unbeaten League season and went on the win the division 3 Florida State Championship in 2016 for the first time in the club’s history. The Sarasota SURGE Rugby Club was founded in 2010 by a small group of International and American rugby players to fill the need for rugby in our area. Surge is a competitive D3 Men's Rugby Club representing Manatee & Sarasota Counties. Surge is equipped with a full coaching staff that can teach anyone the game. We welcome new and veteran players alike, at anytime during the season. Rugby is the second most played sport in the world next to soccer and stands as the fastest growing sport in the United States! It's the most physical, intense team sport around! Home Field Address: Sarasota International Cricket & Rugby Club 7401 University Park Bradenton, FL 34202 Training takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm. Anyone is welcome to come join in.
