About Florida Robotics
Florida Robotics is a worldwide leader in entertainment and promotional robotics. Specializing in the design and construction of a truly unique brand of robots, animatronic characters, Mars type rovers and robotic products since 1993. BACK STORY In 1989 while still living in Nashville, Tennessee, Florida Robotics founder Russ Martin Jr. developed a fondness for building robots in his spare time. He built a voice-command "Smart Robot" with a TV for a head and wires dangling every-which-way that could turn left and make a right turn upon command. He sold that to the Cumberland Science Museum and moved to Florida with his fiancée Fay Leuzzi. After many trips to New Smyrna Beach, he decided to create a six wheel, drink-serving robot that was capable of following them in the sand while serving a cold beer or soda-pop on demand. It proved so popular that a local carpet cleaning company owner bought it right out of their living room closet! Russ continued with his unique inventions, designing a letter-making bubble machine that he took to a local businessman, who nixed that idea and bought a life-size Pepsi robot instead. The robot idea had caught on. Fay left her corporate sales job to sell robots full time not long after and Florida Robotics was born. Nearly 20 years and hundreds of robots later, Russ continues to design innovative and fun robotic products which can be found in 30 countries worldwide.
