About Florida Supreme Court Historical Society
Incorporated in 1977, the Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with more than 800 members throughout Florida and elsewhere. It is committed to making sure people understand the importance of a strong, independent judiciary in our governmental balance of power. Likewise, it works to save and maintain for future generations the records of the people and events that have shaped the evolution of Florida's court system from the early 1800s, through the 20th Century, and beyond. Member dues and contributions -- which are tax-deductible -- support a variety of Society programs and activities, including: publications, oral history programs, historical archives, Supreme Court tours, and exhibits, as well as an annual Society reception and dinner. The Society has more than 800 members throughout Florida and elsewhere who are dedicated to educating citizens about the courts' vital role in our system of government and to preserving our state's judicial history. Many Society members are lawyers and judges who work daily within the justice system. Others are law students, paralegals, educators, business people, public officials, and other Floridians who support historic preservation. You are invited to become a member of the Society by completing and returning the Membership Application or by using the Online Membership Application. The Society needs the participation and support of individuals who recognize the importance of protecting and maintaining a strong, independent justice system. We encourage you to join this organization and help with this critically important effort. All of us have a vested interest -- whether a member of Florida's legal community, a member of the judiciary, a public official, or an individual citizen. You can help make a difference! Please do your part by becoming a Member of the Society. www.FlCourtHistory.org
