About Florida Undergraduate Moot Court

Florida Undergraduate Moot Court was created to provide undergraduate students with a space to develop essential legal skills, including legal research, brief writing, and oral advocacy. As a growing organization, we are committed to creating meaningful experiences that prepare students for success in law school and their future legal careers. We teach our members how to write appellate briefs and engage in appellate-style oral arguments. Team members form pairs and each takes on a constitutional issue presented in the American Moot Court Association’s annual case packet. Our competition team works collaboratively to craft arguments and refine writing and oral advocacy skills. They prepare through the summer and fall semester, concluding in participation in the American Moot Court Association's oral argument regional competition. In addition to oral advocacy, teams also draft a legal brief, written in accordance with the rules established by the official organization for undergraduate moot court competition, the American Moot Court Association. Our In-House team spends the fall semester analyzing case law, formulating persuasive arguments, and creating a legal brief. In the spring, our members learn oral advocacy skills, with the end of the semester culminating in an in-house competition with UF law professors and members of the local legal community serving as judges.
