About Flounder Brewing

Flounder Brewing Co. is a family-owned and -operated brewery in Hillsborough, New Jersey. It all started in a kitchen in Morristown. We’re talking one of those tiny apartment-style kitchens where you can stand in the middle and touch the entire room with one sweep of an arm. Jeremy (aka, "Flounder") pulled in his two brothers, Dan and Mike, to help him with his homebrew adventure. Although all three couldn’t fit in the kitchen at the same time, they managed to turn the apartment into a homebrew paradise. Wanting to go bigger, the guys decided to invest in a larger brew system called a SABCO system. Too big for the apartment, the brothers moved brewing to a garage, adding their cousin Billy to the crew. While barbecuing around a firepit, they brewed all sorts of beer to share, discussing future plans to make the passion a business. The team began working on their flagship beer that had been inspired by the the brothers' maternal grandfather who was a beekeeper and the original artisan in the family. That flagship beer is known as Hill Street Honey Ale, a reference to the street where Flounder started it all and their beekeeping grandfather. Still keeping their day jobs, Jeremy, Daniel, and Billy decided to open a nano brewery to test their ideas and grow it slowly over time. In 2010, they leased a light-industrial unit in Hillsborough, and Flounder Brewing Company began life as a real business. In 2020 they broke ground on construction of a new brewhouse and tap room with the Carriage Farm in Hillsborough and celebrated a ribbon-cutting grand opening in June of 2021! Come by and check out the new space, built out of a restored antique dutch barn and horse stable the site now includes two outdoor beer gardens and a loft seating section.
