About FMC (Association of Former Members of Congress)
FMC, the Association of Former Members of Congress, utilizes the unique skill sets of its 600 members to provide public service programs and initiatives both at home and abroad. Originally conceptualized as an alumni organization, to keep former Members connected on a social basis, when it was founded in 1970, FMC now offers substantive domestic and international programs for its members. FMC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, educational, research and social organization with approximately 550 members who represented their states and districts in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. While the organization has been chartered by Congress since 1980, it is not funded by Congress. It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization. Thanks to its membership dues, annual fundraising dinner, donations, and grants from corporations and individuals, FMC sponsors programs across the nation and in numerous foreign countries at no cost to the taxpayer.
