About Focusing Minds

Welcome to Focusing Minds, a comprehensive service provider offering support to schools and education providers since 2020. Shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic, we were concerned about the number of young people suffering with entry level SEMH needs who sadly did not reach thresholds for the support of more complex, local services. At Focusing Minds, we are deliberately pitched at this entry stage level, supporting children and young people with a range of everyday concerns impacting on their mental wellbeing, from anxiety through to levels of confidence. That's not all though, at Focusing Minds we're keen to help young people develop and, utilising a person centred approach, we all them to grow, develop new skills and strategies for managing a whole host of everyday concerns, both in and outside of the school environment. Worried about behaviour in your setting with students at risk of suspensions and permanent exclusions? Our engagement and behaviour pastoral support can help with this. Lauded for it's positive impact, we use the same approach to help delve into behaviours and help young people develop greater self awareness and understanding of what their behaviours are and why they may present the way they do. This self development, coupled with reasonable adjustments and support from teams already in school, can go a long way to help reducing the likelihood of escalated sanctions over time.
