About Fojo

Fojo is a project aimed at rediscovering the art of the darkroom through innovative hardware and software solutions, tailored to avid photography enthusiasts. We developed the Fojo iOS camera app that packs user customisable live filters and high-end photography features into your iPhone along with a user-friendly, unobtrusive design philosophy. We also dreamed up the Enfojer - a small, light-weight portable photographic enlarger that creates traditional photo prints directly from the screen of your smartphone (or a traditional negative, if you so prefer), greatly simplifying the traditional darkroom process. With the Fojo Enfojer system you can take a photo and develop a beautiful print wherever you can set up a dark corner and find place for a couple of chemical trays - even while camping in the woods (hint: buy a red tent). Visit www.fojo.me to learn more about our current projects. Why do we feel it's important to preserve the traditional photo development process? Mostly for the magic. If a photo is not put on paper, it doesn't live. You cannot show it to people, put it on a wall, sell it or exhibit it. Due to chemical imprecisions, different amounts of silver halides on the paper and other fine details (like your thumbprint on the image if you forget to wear gloves!), every photo print comes out as a unique work of art.
