KANPE, which means "to stand up" in Haitian Creole, is a foundation dedicated to empowering underserved rural communities in Haiti on their path to autonomy. Through six key pillars—Leadership, Economic Development, Agroforestry, Education, Healthcare, and Infrastructure Strengthening—KANPE helps break the cycle of poverty. Founded in 2010 by two influential women of Haitian descent, Régine Chassagne, co-leader of the Grammy-winning band Arcade Fire, and Dominique Anglade, a prominent political, business and academic leader in Québec, KANPE is committed to Haiti’s development from the ground up. Partnering with local Haitian organizations, we provide the tools, training, and expertise needed to build resilient communities capable of driving their own development.
