About Food Ladder

Food Ladder is changing the way Australia eats. We are doing that by addressing the fact that 94% of Australian children do not eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables. This is a result of a food security crisis in Australia and a lack of understanding of the importance of healthy eating. This leads to kids being unable to focus in class because they are hungry, down the line lack of participation in the workforce and bad dietary habits which lead to a burden of chronic disease such as diabetes and obesity. These are the trends crippling low-socio economic communities in Australia and Food Ladder is focussed on turning it around. Food security is not a luxury, it is a basic human right. That is why Food Ladder is a child first organisation that solves the problem in a simple, effective and sustainable way. By inserting food growing, STEM aligned technology directly into schools where students are suffering we engage the children in the learning, growing and eating of fresh produce. Food Ladder transforms a community from one where kids often have no vegetables to eat, to having an abundant supply more or less overnight. What's more, the skills we impart are with the child for life, impacting their choices as they grow and inspiring a systematic change that has generational impact. We are rolling out Food Ladder in every state and territory across the country and are looking for support to help us achieve our mission.
