Imagine being able to eradicate 50 million cars emissions overnight. Imagine companies saving 165 billion dollars per year. Imagine you having an extra $500 dollars in your pocket. Imagine if we stopped imagining and started implementing. Each year, 165 billion pounds of wholesome food is thrown away within the United States. While one in seven Americans experience food scarcity, wasted food is the biggest occupant composing American landfills. It consumes 10% of the US energy budget and 50% of US land. Despite devoting such astronomical resources to food, according to the National Resource Department, we waste 40% of our food supply. By examining the process we are able to examine the inefficiencies in the system by identifying issues and finding solutions to the problem. Emerging opportunities arise through highlighting the inefficiencies in every stage from farm, to fork, to landfill. Food is a fundamental resource required for us to survive. Without food, we cannot achieve great feats to change the world.
