About Footy for Climate

We know the world is changing. From extreme weather like bushfires, floods, drought and more intense heat waves, the climate is changing. We hear a lot about how that’s impacting the world around us. And now those impacts are here and striking at the heart of our game. From the grassroots through to the elite level. For too long sport has sat on the sidelines on climate. We want to change that, taking action in our lives, at our clubs, and across our industry. We’re working to learn more. Taking steps to address our contribution to climate change. And hoping we can bring you, and millions of other Australians, on the journey with us. In October 2021 we launched as an organisation led by and for AFL players concerned about the future of our planet and our game. Since then, we've worked across the footy community and seen first-hand the impact climate is having on the game and just how many footy fans, members and local footy volunteers and administrators want to do something about it. This movement is bigger than just professional players. So from now on, we're Footy for Climate. A team for the whole footy community. Somewhere for all footy lovers, no matter your involvement in the game. If you love footy and care about the future of our planet and our game, this is the place for you. Over the seasons to come we’ll be doing more to tackle climate change. Follow the journey and join us. We’re not experts but we listen to scientists and experts. They’re telling us the time to act is now. That’s why we’re taking part in the solutions in our own lives and industry and we’re passionate about telling the story.
